Hills Alarm Manuals — NX-Series & 60EL

Hills (formerly Hills Industries, now Hills Limited) alarms have been installed in Perth homes and businesses for decades. The NX-series panels — NX4, NX16 and NX148 — are robust wired alarm systems with a large installed base across WA. The 60EL is a compact entry-level panel designed for smaller properties.

Common Hills Alarm Issues

Panel Beeping at Night

Hills NX panels beep when the backup battery voltage drops below threshold. This usually means the battery needs replacement — typically a 12V 7Ah sealed lead-acid battery.

Trouble Light Flashing

Press * on the Hills NX keypad to scroll through active troubles. Common causes: AC power loss, low battery, zone tamper, or loss of phone line communication.

Alarm Won't Arm

If your Hills alarm refuses to arm, there is likely an open zone or tamper condition. Check the zone display on your keypad to identify which sensor is causing the issue.

Forgot User Code

User codes on Hills NX panels can be changed using the master code (code 1). If you have lost the master code, a technician will need to reset it using the installer code.
