EAS System Installation Perth

Australian retail theft hit 595,660 victims in a single year — a 6% rise — costing the industry $7.8 billion annually in shrinkage. EAS anti-theft systems are the most effective physical barrier between your merchandise and the exit.

Great White Security installs RF 8.2MHz and AM 58kHz EAS systems for Perth and WA retailers, integrated with Dahua AI CCTV for a unified loss prevention platform. No merchandise leaves your store without your permission.

EAS Technology Types

Different retail environments call for different EAS technologies. We assess your store and recommend the right system for your product mix, layout and budget.

📡

RF 8.2MHz

Most Widely Installed

  • Industry standard for fashion, apparel and general retail
  • Hard tags (reusable) and soft labels (disposable, concealable)
  • Labels embeddable in packaging and swing tags
  • Widest range of compatible tags and accessories in WA
  • Suitable for single and dual-antenna configurations
🔊

AM 58kHz

High Sensitivity

  • Better performance near metal shelving and liquid products
  • Ideal for pharmacies, supermarkets, liquor stores, hardware
  • Wide-aisle antenna configurations up to 2 metres
  • Lower false alarm rate in metal-dense environments
  • Bottle security tags and blister-pack labels available
🧲

EM

Reactivatable Labels

  • Thin adhesive strips embedded directly in products
  • Reactivated on return — no replacement tag cost
  • Suited to libraries, media, archival environments
  • Demagnetised at POS checkout, reactivated if returned
  • Good option when product cannot be visibly tagged

How EAS Systems Work

EAS is a proven physical deterrent — it stops theft at the exit, before the loss occurs.

1

Tag Applied

RF or AM security tags or labels are attached to merchandise before it hits the floor.

2

Antenna at Exit

Detection pedestals installed at all store exits create an invisible detection field.

3

Deactivated at POS

Legitimate purchases are deactivated or detached at checkout — no alarm triggers.

4

Alarm + Camera

Active tags trigger the alarm at exit. Dahua integration immediately bookmarks CCTV footage for evidence.

EAS Components We Supply & Install

A complete EAS installation includes detection hardware, tagging consumables, and POS deactivation — all configured for your store.

🚪

Antenna Pedestals

Single and dual-antenna configurations. Wide-aisle options for trolley exits and bottle shop doors. Freestanding and recessed installations.

🏷️

Hard Tags

Reusable tags for garments, accessories, electronics and high-value items. Pencil tags, lanyard tags, spider wraps, and bottle cap covers.

📋

Soft Labels

Single-use adhesive labels concealed in packaging or applied to products. Ideal for FMCG, pharmacy and high-volume lower-value items. Deactivated at POS.

💳

Detachers & Deactivators

Countertop detachers for hard tags. POS-integrated deactivation pads for soft labels. Handheld detachers for floor staff.

Why EAS + Dahua CCTV Together?

EAS stops the tag leaving. CCTV identifies who triggered the alarm, records the attempt, and provides police evidence. Most Perth security installers offer one or the other — Great White Security integrates both in a single installation with unified Dahua VMS management.

EAS Alone

  • Alarm triggers but no footage of who caused it
  • Staff must review hours of unlinked video manually
  • No evidence package for police report
  • No data on repeat offenders or peak theft times

EAS + Dahua Smart Retail

  • EAS alarm auto-bookmarks the corresponding camera footage
  • Manager receives push notification with timestamped clip
  • AI behavioural analytics detect loitering before theft occurs
  • People counting and heatmaps reveal high-theft zones and times

Our EAS Installation Process

A proper EAS installation is more than placing pedestals at the door. We assess your layout, product mix and existing systems before recommending anything.

1

Site Assessment

We survey your store layout, exit configurations, product categories, existing CCTV, and current shrinkage patterns.

2

System Design

We recommend the right technology (RF or AM), antenna positions, tag types for your product mix, and POS deactivation method.

3

Professional Installation

Licensed installation with minimal disruption to trading. Pedestal anchoring, concealed cabling, POS deactivator installation and system testing.

4

Staff Training & Handover

We train your staff on tag application, detachment at POS, alarm response protocols, and how to order replacement consumables.

EAS System FAQs Perth

What is the difference between RF and AM EAS systems?
RF (Radio Frequency) at 8.2MHz is the most widely used EAS technology globally. It works well for fashion, apparel and general retail where metal shelving is minimal. AM (Acousto-Magnetic) at 58kHz performs better near metal fixtures and liquid products, making it the preferred choice for pharmacies, supermarkets, liquor stores and hardware retailers. The right choice depends on your store environment and product mix — we assess this during a free site visit. For a detailed technical comparison, see our electronic article surveillance guide.
How long does EAS installation take?
For most retail stores, EAS pedestal installation takes half a day to a full day depending on the number of exits, cabling requirements, and POS deactivator integration. We typically schedule installations outside trading hours or early morning to minimise disruption. A larger supermarket or multi-exit shopping centre tenancy may require two days. We confirm timelines at the design stage once we understand your store's requirements.
Can EAS systems be integrated with our existing CCTV?
Yes. If you have an existing Dahua NVR or ONVIF-compatible CCTV system, we can configure EAS alarms to trigger camera bookmarks at the exact timestamp of the alarm event. This means when you review an incident, the relevant footage is immediately indexed — you don't need to scrub through hours of video. For stores without CCTV, we can supply and install a Dahua system as part of the same project. Learn more about Dahua Smart Retail integration.
Do EAS tags need to be removed at the point of sale?
It depends on the tag type. Hard tags (pencil tags, spider wraps) are physically removed using a detacher tool at the checkout counter. They are then reconditioned and reused on new stock. Soft labels (adhesive RF or AM labels) are deactivated electromagnetically at the POS — they remain on the product but can no longer trigger the antenna. We configure the deactivation pads as part of the installation to work with your existing checkout setup.
Is EAS effective against organised retail crime?
EAS is an effective deterrent and friction layer for organised retail crime (ORC), but it works best as part of a layered system. Organised groups may attempt to defeat EAS using Faraday-lined booster bags, which require AM systems with higher sensitivity or supplementary foil-detection technology. The most effective ORC defence combines EAS with CCTV (including AI behavioural analytics), staff training, and consistent alarm response protocols. We design layered loss prevention systems for retailers facing repeat organised theft.
