Gym access control Perth operators use to run 24-hour and unstaffed hours: a member fob, card or phone credential at the door, checked against the membership system, so a lapsed membership stops working at the door the same day. We design and install the door hardware, readers, controllers and the cabling back to your front desk or comms rack, for gyms, pilates and yoga studios, aquatic centres, climbing gyms and sporting clubs across Perth.
The question every gym owner asks first is whether the door can talk to the membership system, and the honest answer is that it depends on which software you run. Platforms such as Clubworx, Glofox and Mindbody each publish their own door-access route: some sync members to a nominated cloud controller through an API, some work through an Inner Range based integration, and GymMaster supplies its own reader and controller that a local installer wires in. Others hand the job to an open controller such as UniFi Access or Inner Range Inception, which expose an API a developer can connect to.
Which route your software supports decides the controller we quote, and we confirm it with you before anything is ordered. Where the software has no door integration at all, member credentials are managed on the access control side instead, with schedules by membership type and a monthly export to reconcile against the member list. Either way, the door hardware, cabling and readers are the same job, and that is the part we own.
Unstaffed hours are where a gym door system earns its keep, and where the cheap version falls over. A reader that opens the door is only the start; the system also needs to know when the door is held open for a friend, when it is forced, and who was inside when something went missing.
The cameras, the door and the alarm can all sit on one platform, which is covered on our commercial CCTV installation and Inception installer pages.
A fitness centre is rarely one door. A recent Perth quote covered a gym floor, a pilates studio with glass double doors and a pool entry on one four-door controller, with fobs issued per member and the pilates room on a schedule that only opens for members of that programme during class hours. The creche, staff room and plant room sit on the same controller with staff-only credentials, and the pool door locks outside supervised hours regardless of membership.
Glass doors need specific lock hardware and a clean cable path to the reader, and a sliding automatic door needs the access system to drive the door operator rather than a lock. We plan both at the site walk so the quote matches the doors you actually have.
Most Perth gyms issue a fob because it survives a gym bag and a wet pocket, and because it works for members who do not want an app. Phone credentials suit studios with a younger membership and remove the cost of lost fobs; UniFi Access can issue passes to Apple Wallet, and Gallagher, HID and Inner Range all run their own mobile credentials. The two can run side by side on the same readers, so a member chooses and the system does not care.
Whatever the credential, we specify encrypted formats rather than the 125 kHz fobs that can be cloned at a kiosk, which matters more at a 24-hour gym than almost anywhere else. The key fob access control page explains the difference.
The name of your membership software, a list of the doors you want controlled and whether each is a hinged, glass or automatic door, your staffed and unstaffed hours, and whether cameras and an alarm are part of the job or already in place. A floor plan with the doors marked is ideal; photos of each door and the comms cabinet get us most of the way. We quote the system, the installation and the ongoing costs of any cloud or credential licences in plain figures so there are no surprises after opening.
This page is part of our access control Perth service, which covers every platform and integration we install.
Usually, but it depends on the software. Clubworx, Glofox, Mindbody and GymMaster each support a specific door-access route, and that route decides which controller and readers we install. We confirm your platform's supported integration before quoting. If your software has no door integration, member credentials are managed on the access control side with schedules by membership type.
Yes. UniFi Access, Gallagher, HID and Inner Range all issue mobile credentials, and UniFi Access can add a pass to Apple Wallet. Phone and fob credentials work on the same readers at the same time, so members who prefer a fob keep one and the rest use their phone. Lost-fob replacement disappears for the phone users.
Door monitoring reports a door held open beyond a set time, CCTV on the entry is tied to each swipe so one credential with two people is visible, and each member has one credential with their photo in the system. Those three together make tailgating easy to prove and easy to raise with the member. Turnstiles or interlocked doors are an option for larger 24-hour sites.
The controller keeps working. Credentials, schedules and door rules are stored on the controller itself, so members still get in and the log keeps recording. Changes made in the membership system or the cloud sync through when the connection returns. We put the controller and the network gear on battery backup so a power blip does not lock anyone out either.
Yes. Each door has its own schedule and its own list of who is allowed through, so the pool can lock outside supervised hours, the pilates studio can open only to that programme's members during class times, and the gym floor can run 24 hours. Staff credentials override the schedules where you want them to.
It depends on the number of doors, the type of door and lock hardware each needs, whether readers and cabling already exist, the controller your membership software supports, and whether cameras and an alarm are part of the job. Cloud platforms and mobile credentials can carry a per-door or per-user fee, which we set out in the quote. Send us the door list and the software name and we will quote from there.
Which doors, what type of door each is, your staffed and unstaffed hours, and the membership platform you run. We will confirm the integration route, quote the door hardware, readers and controller, and set out any ongoing licence costs in plain figures.
