Inner Range Inception: install, commission, take over

Inception Installer Perth

Inception installer Perth for small and mid-size commercial sites that want access control and the intruder alarm on one Inner Range controller, managed from a web browser. We install new Inception systems, finish and commission ones that were started by someone else, take over existing sites, and add doors and detectors as a business grows.

Where Inception fits, and where Integriti does

Inception is the Inner Range controller we fit when a site needs real access control and a proper alarm without a server, software licences or a dedicated PC. The controller is programmed and operated from a web browser, so the owner or manager works from a laptop or phone rather than a locked-down workstation. A single controller handles four doors and eight zone inputs out of the box and expands to 128 doors, 256 readers and 1,024 inputs with expansion modules, so it comfortably covers an office floor, a laundromat chain, a sporting club or an apartment block.

Integriti is the larger Inner Range platform for enterprise and high-security sites: many buildings, hundreds of doors, Defence-style accreditation requirements and server-based management. If your site is heading that way we say so at the first visit. The Inner Range Integriti and Inception page compares the two platforms; this page is about getting Inception installed and working.

Doors, readers and credentials

A typical Inception install starts with the doors that matter: main entry, staff and plant rooms, server room, after-hours entry to a gym or wash room. Each door gets a reader, lock hardware matched to the door and its egress requirements, a request-to-exit device and door monitoring so the system knows when a door is held or forced. Credentials are cards, fobs or mobile credentials on a phone, issued per person with time schedules, so a cleaner has the back door between set hours and nothing else.

  • New sites designed from a door schedule and a walk of the building, with controller location, cabling routes and power planned together.
  • Additional stores or buildings for a business already standardised on Inception, so the new site works the same way as the existing ones.
  • Replacing another platform where a business wants every site on Inception; existing readers and door hardware are reused where they are compatible.

Intrusion on the same controller

Inception is an alarm panel as well as an access controller, which is the main reason it gets chosen over a doors-only system. Detectors, reed switches, glass-break and duress inputs sit on the same controller as the doors, so arming and disarming follows a valid card at the entry rather than a separate keypad code nobody remembers after a staff change. Areas can be arranged by tenancy or by part of the building, and a roller door left open at knock-off time is reported as an event rather than discovered the next morning.

Back-to-base reporting runs through an Inner Range communicator on the controller to a Grade A1 monitoring centre, with open and close reporting and duress handled per area.

Remote management and the app

Remote access to an Inception controller uses Inner Range SkyTunnel, a cloud peer-to-peer link that avoids port forwarding on the site router, and users arm, disarm and unlock from the SkyCommand app. For a strata committee or an owner with several sites this is the practical difference: credentials can be added, changed and cancelled by the manager from anywhere, without a contractor attending for routine changes. We set the accounts up at handover and walk the administrator through the day-to-day tasks.

Inception also exposes an open REST API, which is how it integrates with booking systems, PIN management and CCTV platforms when a site needs that. Controller capacities, firmware and the current expansion modules are published on the Inner Range Inception controller page.

Commissioning, takeovers and servicing

Some of our Inception work is finishing jobs that stalled: hardware mounted and cabled by a member or a previous contractor, with the programming never completed. We check the cabling against the door schedule, finish the terminations, program users, areas and schedules, test every door and detector, and hand over working logins. Where a site already runs Inception and the installer has moved on, a takeover visit confirms the controller and firmware, recovers administrator access through the manufacturer process and documents what is connected to what.

Servicing covers firmware updates, battery and power supply checks, reader and lock testing and an area walk-test, as single visits or under a commercial maintenance agreement with the CCTV and intercom on the same site.

Questions we get asked

What is the difference between Inception and Integriti?

Inception is the Inner Range controller for small and mid-size sites: access control and intrusion on one unit, programmed from a web browser with no server or software licence, expandable to 128 doors. Integriti is the enterprise platform for large, multi-building and high-security sites that need server-based management. We install both and will tell you which one your building needs.

Can you finish an Inception system another installer started?

Yes. We check the installed cabling and hardware against the door schedule, complete terminations, program users, areas, schedules and door behaviour, test every door and detector and hand over administrator and user logins. If parts of the installation are not usable we tell you before quoting the completion work.

Can the strata manager or business owner manage credentials without calling a contractor?

Yes. Inception is administered from a web browser, locally or remotely through the SkyTunnel link, so an authorised manager can add, change and cancel cards, fobs and mobile credentials and adjust schedules themselves. We set up the administrator account at handover and walk through the routine tasks, and remain available for changes you would rather not make yourself.

Does Inception replace the alarm panel as well as the access control?

Yes. Inception has zone inputs for detectors, door contacts, glass-break and duress devices on the same controller as the doors, with areas that arm and disarm by schedule or by a valid credential at the entry. It reports back to base through an Inner Range communicator, so one controller covers access, intrusion and monitoring.

Can Inception be extended later as the business grows?

Yes. A base controller handles four doors and eight inputs and grows with expansion modules to 128 doors, 256 readers and 1,024 inputs, including lift control, and the same controller can be mirrored across additional sites. We size the controller and enclosure for the doors you plan to add, not only the ones going in today.

What does an Inception installation cost in Perth?

It depends on the number of doors, the lock hardware each door needs, how many detectors and areas the alarm side covers, whether readers and cabling already exist and whether monitoring is included. Send a door list or a floor plan with the doors marked and we will quote from there or arrange a site walk.

Send us the door list

How many doors, which ones need readers, whether the alarm is included, and whether a controller is already on the wall. A floor plan with the doors marked, or a photo of the existing cabinet, answers most of it. We will quote the install, completion or takeover from there.
