Ubiquiti UniFi: cameras, doors, network

UniFi Installer Perth

UniFi installer Perth for businesses that want cameras, door access, intercoms and the network they run on from one platform, installed by a licensed security company rather than pieced together. We design, cable, install and support UniFi Protect, UniFi Access and UniFi Network across Perth commercial sites, and we take over UniFi systems that were set up without a security integrator.

What a UniFi installer actually does on a commercial site

UniFi is popular with businesses for a simple reason: one console runs the cameras, the doors, the intercom and the network, with no per-camera licence fee. The catch is that it still has to be installed like a security system. Camera positions have to cover what matters, doors need the right locks, readers and fire-safe release, cabling has to be certified, and the whole thing has to keep working when the internet does not.

  • UniFi Protect: G6 and AI series cameras, UNVR recording, retention sized to the site, remote viewing set up properly.
  • UniFi Access: readers, hubs and credentials on real door hardware, including intercom entry and schedules for after-hours.
  • UniFi Network: the PoE switching, gateway and Wi-Fi that carry it all, built so security traffic is separated from staff and guest use.

Existing UniFi sites, expansions and takeovers

Many of the UniFi jobs we quote start with a business that already has UniFi networking from its IT provider and now wants cameras or doors on the same console. That is a good position to be in: the switching is usually there, and the work is cameras, cabling, a recorder and the security design around them.

We also take over UniFi systems that were installed without a security licence, often by a network contractor or in-house. The usual fixes are cameras pointed at the wrong things, doors wired without a fire-rated release, no retention plan, and an admin account that belongs to someone who has left. We document what is there, fix what is unsafe, and hand the console back with named accounts and a backup. Security installation in WA is licensed work; our technicians hold WA Police security licences.

Why buy UniFi through an installer rather than online

The hardware is the same. What changes is the warranty and the accountability. As an approved Elite Integrator partner for Ubiquiti in Australia, eligible UniFi hardware we supply and install carries a three-year manufacturer warranty, extended from the standard term, and we lodge and manage any claim. Installation workmanship is warranted separately for 12 months. You also get one company responsible for the cameras, the doors, the cabling and the network, which matters the first time something stops working at 7am on a Monday.

Current UniFi camera, access and network specifications are published by Ubiquiti on its tech specs site; we design from those, not from memory.

Support after handover

Firmware updates, adding cameras or doors as a site grows, credential changes when staff leave, and multi-site management through UniFi Site Manager are handled as service calls or under a commercial maintenance agreement. Where a site needs back-to-base alarm monitoring as well, we fit a monitored alarm alongside UniFi rather than pretending the cameras are an alarm.

Questions we get asked

Can you add UniFi cameras or door access to the UniFi network our IT company installed?

Yes. That is the most common UniFi job we do. We work alongside your IT provider, use the existing switching where it has the PoE budget, add the cameras, readers, locks and recorder, and configure Protect and Access on the same console. Security installation in WA is licensed work, so the camera and door side needs a licensed installer.

Does UniFi have ongoing licence fees?

No. UniFi Protect, Access and Network run on the hardware you own, with no per-camera or per-door software licence. The ongoing costs are the ones any system has: power, internet, storage drives when they wear out, and servicing. That is a large part of why businesses choose it over per-camera-licensed platforms.

What warranty applies to UniFi hardware you install?

Eligible UniFi hardware we supply and install carries a three-year manufacturer warranty, extended from the standard term because we are an approved Elite Integrator partner for Ubiquiti in Australia. We diagnose the fault, lodge the claim and manage the replacement. Installation workmanship is warranted separately for 12 months.

Is UniFi suitable for government or NDAA-restricted sites?

UniFi Protect cameras are made by Ubiquiti and are not on the NDAA Section 889 restricted list, so they are commonly specified for government, defence-adjacent and compliance-sensitive sites that cannot use certain other brands. We also install other NDAA compliant ranges where a tender names them.

What does a UniFi installation cost?

It depends on how many cameras and doors, how much cabling is needed, whether a recorder and switching are included, and whether an existing UniFi network is already in place. Tell us what you have now and what you want it to do, and we will quote it or arrange a site walk.

Tell us what you run now

Whether you already have UniFi networking, how many cameras and doors you have in mind, and what the site needs to do after hours. A floor plan or a photo of the comms rack answers most of it. We will quote the install, expansion or takeover from there.
