Why Vivotek comes up on Perth jobs

Vivotek is a Taiwanese manufacturer, part of the Delta Electronics group, and sits outside the US NDAA Section 889 and FCC Covered List restrictions. In practice it is the brand we reach for when a client's policy rules out Hikvision and Dahua but the budget was set with those brands in mind. It delivers the fixed domes, bullets and turrets that make up most of a commercial system at a price between the restricted budget brands and the enterprise tier.

  • Government-adjacent and critical-infrastructure sites that need NDAA compliant CCTV across a large camera count.
  • Strata, retail and logistics replacing a restricted-brand system without doubling the cost.
  • Mixed-brand estates where Vivotek fills the general-coverage positions and Axis or Hanwha take the critical ones.

What we install

Vivotek's range covers fixed domes and turrets for interiors, IR bullets for carparks and perimeters, multi-sensor and fisheye models for wide areas, and licence-plate-capable cameras for entries, with onboard analytics for people and vehicle detection on current models. Recording is to Vivotek's own NVRs for single-site systems, or to an open VMS such as Milestone XProtect or Nx Witness where the site is larger, multi-brand or multi-location. Cameras are ONVIF conformant, so they also slot into existing open platforms.

Every camera is positioned for identification, with the lens chosen for the distance to the target rather than the widest view available, and every quote lists manufacturer and model per device for the compliance file.

Replacing a restricted-brand system with Vivotek

Most Vivotek work in Perth is a swap-out. We audit the existing system and identify which cameras are restricted-manufacturer products, including the rebadged ones, then reuse the cabling where it is sound and replace cameras in groups so the site is never without recording. The old recorder stays online until the new NVR or VMS has every stream, then the restricted equipment is removed from the network. You receive a camera schedule and manufacturer declarations at handover.

Servicing and support

Firmware updates, camera replacements, storage expansion and recorder health checks are handled as single service calls or under a commercial maintenance agreement. Vivotek systems installed by other contractors can be taken over after an audit of the cameras, recorder and credentials.

Questions we get asked

Is Vivotek NDAA compliant?

Yes. Vivotek is a Taiwanese manufacturer within the Delta Electronics group and is not named in NDAA Section 889 or the FCC Covered List. We confirm compliance at model level and obtain manufacturer documentation where a tender or security review requires it.

How does Vivotek compare with Hikvision and Dahua?

Comparable camera types and image quality in the mainstream range, at a price above the restricted brands but well below the enterprise tier. The reason to choose it is the manufacturer's origin and the compliance position, not a feature gap in either direction.

Can Vivotek cameras work with my existing recorder or VMS?

Usually. Vivotek cameras are ONVIF conformant and are supported natively by Milestone, Nx Witness and most open platforms. If your recorder is a restricted brand that also has to go, we specify a Vivotek NVR or a VMS to replace it.

Do you install Vivotek for small single-site businesses?

Yes, where there is a reason to choose it over a restricted brand: a compliance requirement, a corporate client policy, or a preference for a non-Chinese manufacturer. For a single site with no such requirement, we also quote UniFi Protect, which avoids per-camera licensing.

What does a Vivotek installation cost?

It depends on camera count, the camera types needed for each position, whether existing cabling can be reused, retention requirements and whether an NVR or a VMS is the right recording platform. A site visit gives a firm figure with manufacturer and model on every line.

How many cameras, what they need to capture, what is installed now, and whether there is a compliance requirement behind the brand choice. We will quote a Vivotek system, with the recording platform matched to the site.
