Nx Witness VMS: any camera, one interface

Nx Witness Installer Perth

Nx Witness installer Perth for businesses that want one video system across cameras from different brands, sites and eras. We specify the server, install and integrate the cameras, license the system and hand over an Nx Witness client that security staff can use on day one, with Nx Cloud for remote access where it is wanted.

Why Nx Witness, and who it suits in Perth

Nx Witness, from Network Optix, is an open video management system: it records and displays cameras from almost any manufacturer, runs on ordinary server hardware (Windows or Linux), and is licensed per camera with no annual fee on the licence itself. For a Perth business that has accumulated Hikvision on one building, Dahua on another and a few Axis cameras at the gate, it is the platform that puts them all on one screen.

  • Warehouses and logistics: inward goods, loading docks, yard and gatehouse on one timeline, with fast search for a pallet or plate.
  • Retail and hospitality groups: several sites merged into one system with a store-level login for each manager.
  • Strata and facilities: carparks, lobbies and lifts across buildings, viewed by the building manager and the committee without a trip to the comms room.

Server design and camera integration

An Nx Witness system is only as good as the server underneath it. We size CPU, RAM, storage and network for the camera count, resolution and retention you actually need, and specify a machine that will still be comfortable when more cameras are added. Where a site already has a capable server or a virtual environment, Nx can run there.

Cameras are integrated natively or via ONVIF, with motion, analytics and audio configured per camera rather than left at defaults. Existing recorders can stay in place as a second source during the changeover, and Nx can even pull from some NVRs directly while the old hardware is run down.

Licensing, remote access and handover

Nx Witness is licensed per recording channel, with the licence tied to the server. We quote the licences with the hardware and installation so the figure is complete. Remote viewing is set up through Nx Cloud or a direct connection, depending on your IT policy, and the desktop and mobile clients are installed and configured for the people who will use them.

Handover includes a camera schedule (number, name, location, lens, retention), user accounts with sensible roles, and health alerts so a camera that stops recording is noticed before it is needed. Servicing and expansion are covered under a commercial maintenance agreement or as single calls.

Nx Witness compared with the alternatives

For single sites with cameras from one maker, a branded recorder or UniFi Protect is usually simpler and cheaper. For enterprise sites that need video, access control and plate recognition unified in one product, Genetec Security Center or Milestone XProtect are the comparison. Nx Witness sits in the middle: open, fast, lightweight and sensibly priced for mixed-brand systems from a dozen cameras to several hundred. We install all of them and will tell you which fits.

Questions we get asked

Will Nx Witness work with the cameras I already have?

In most cases, yes. Nx Witness supports thousands of camera models natively and anything compliant with ONVIF. We check each model against the supported list before quoting and flag any camera that would need replacing.

Do I need a dedicated server for Nx Witness?

For more than a handful of cameras, a dedicated machine or a virtual machine on existing infrastructure is the right approach. We specify it from camera count, resolution and retention. Small systems can run on compact hardware or a capable NVR appliance.

Is there an ongoing fee for Nx Witness?

The camera licences are a one-time purchase tied to the server. Ongoing costs are optional: Nx Cloud features, server maintenance, and any support agreement you choose to take with us.

Can I view Nx Witness from my phone?

Yes. The Nx mobile app connects through Nx Cloud or directly to the server, with the same user roles as the desktop client. We set it up for each user at handover.

Can you take over an Nx Witness system someone else installed?

Yes. We audit the server, licences, camera list and retention, document what is there, fix what is not recording, and then service it going forward. If the licences were registered to the previous installer, we work through the transfer with Network Optix.

Send us the camera list

Brands and models if you have them, how many sites, how long footage must be kept, and who needs to view it. A photo of the existing recorder and comms cabinet helps. We will size the server and quote the full Nx Witness system.
