What Happened to Cambium Networks

Cambium Networks — the wireless vendor behind ePMP and Force point-to-point links, cnPilot Wi-Fi, and cnMatrix switching — entered administration in the UK in September 2026. These are the confirmed facts, with dates:

10 Sep 2026

Cambium Networks Ltd, the group's UK entity, filed a notice of intention to appoint administrators.

11 Sep 2026

The group cut 260 staff — 53.6% of its global workforce — effective immediately.

14 Sep 2026

Administrators from RSM UK Restructuring Advisory LLP were formally appointed.

Background

Parent company Cambium Networks Corporation was delisted from Nasdaq in March 2026 over delayed filings. It reported a US$12.7M loss for the six months to 30 June 2026 and had already flagged going-concern doubt. The company has said the administrators will seek buyers for its business lines, and it anticipates the remaining group entities being wound up.

What This Means If You Run Cambium Equipment

First, the good news: your Cambium equipment keeps working today. Administration affects the company, not the hardware already on your buildings. What has changed is the certainty around everything that depends on the company continuing to operate:

Firmware & Security Updates — Uncertain

Ongoing firmware development and security patching depend on engineering teams and infrastructure that may not continue in their current form. Unpatched network equipment carrying camera and access traffic is a risk that grows over time.

Warranty & RMA — At Risk

Warranty claims and RMA replacements rely on the vendor's ability to process and honour them. During administration, and depending on what buyers emerge for each business line, that ability is uncertain.

cnMaestro Cloud Management — Uncertain

cnMaestro's cloud-hosted management depends on the company operating the service. Continuity of cloud platforms through administration and any subsequent sale or wind-up is not assured.

Spare Parts & Replacement Hardware — Uncertain

When a radio fails on a link carrying your CCTV backhaul, you need a replacement quickly. Availability of new and spare Cambium hardware through distribution channels is now uncertain.

Your gear works today. The time to plan a migration is before support matters — not after something breaks on a link your cameras depend on.

Your Cambium Link Is Probably Carrying Your Security System

Here is what most network-only replacement quotes miss: Cambium wireless links rarely carry just internet traffic. ePMP and Force point-to-point bridges and cnPilot Wi-Fi frequently carry security traffic — CCTV backhaul between buildings, gate intercoms, carpark cameras, and access readers in outbuildings. Replacing the link is only half the job. As a licensed security installer that deploys the full UniFi ecosystem, we replace the network and the security systems riding on it — under one platform.

Network

UniFi Network

Wi-Fi 7 access points, PoE switching, gateways, and building-to-building wireless bridges — the infrastructure layer that replaces your Cambium links and Wi-Fi.

+
Cameras

UniFi Protect

IP cameras and NVR management for the CCTV that runs over your links. Live feeds, playback, motion zones, and AI detection — no per-camera licensing.

+
Doors

UniFi Access

Door controllers and readers for the access points in outbuildings and remote gates that your wireless links serve — NFC and mobile credentials, schedules, audit logs.

+
Entry

UniFi Intercom

Video door stations and gate intercoms — integrated with the cameras and access control on the same platform, answered from the same apps.

One migration. One platform. One console for the network and every security system on it — and one local installer responsible for all of it.

Why UniFi as the Replacement

UniFi is one of the most widely deployed platforms in its class — and it removes the specific risks Cambium owners are now exposed to

No Per-Device Licensing

UniFi hardware does not require per-device licensing or a subscription to keep working. You buy the hardware, you own it, and it runs. After watching a vendor's cloud and support continuity become uncertain overnight, that independence matters.

Local WA Installer

Your support path is a Perth security company you can call — not an offshore vendor queue. We install it, we configure it, and we answer the phone afterwards.

Single-Console Management

Network, cameras, door control, and intercoms all managed from the same UniFi OS interface. Single login, single audit trail, and no juggling separate platforms for the link and the systems on it.

Shipping Availability

UniFi hardware is currently shipping and stocked. When a device fails, replacements are obtainable — the exact problem now facing sites that depend on Cambium spares.

What Replaces What

Family-level equivalents — exact models are confirmed in your site audit based on distances, client counts, and PoE loads

Wi-Fi

cnPilot APs → UniFi U7 / E7

cnPilot Wi-Fi access points map to the UniFi U7 series for commercial and office deployments, or the E7 Enterprise series for high-density environments — all on Wi-Fi 7, all PoE powered.

Switching

cnMatrix → UniFi PoE Switching

cnMatrix switches map to the UniFi PoE switch range — from compact 8-port units to 48-port and enterprise models, with PoE budgets sized for the cameras, readers, and APs on each run.

Point-to-Point

ePMP / Force → UniFi Building Bridges

ePMP and Force point-to-point links map to UniFi building-to-building wireless bridges — connecting warehouses, outbuildings, gates, and carparks back to the main site on the same managed platform.

Our Cambium-to-UniFi Migration Process

1

Site Audit

We document every Cambium device on site — links, APs, switches — and, critically, what traffic rides on them: cameras, intercoms, access readers, and data. Nothing gets replaced until we know what depends on it.

2

Equivalence Map & Quote

A device-by-device map of the UniFi replacement for each Cambium unit, sized for your distances, client counts, and PoE loads — with a clear quote for the staged migration.

3

Staged Cutover

We migrate in planned stages to minimise downtime, keeping cameras and access control running throughout. Existing cabling, PoE runs, and mounting points are typically reusable, which keeps the changeover fast.

4

Decommission & Handover

Old hardware comes down cleanly, and you get full configuration handover — network documentation, console access, and a walkthrough of the UniFi dashboard for your team or IT partner.

Who This Is For

Offices

Sites running cnPilot Wi-Fi and cnMatrix switching that now face an uncertain support path. We migrate to UniFi Wi-Fi 7 and PoE switching with minimal disruption to daily operations.

Warehouses & Industrial

Wireless links between sheds, yards, and offices — often carrying CCTV backhaul. We replace the link and the cameras on it, and cover the wide-area Wi-Fi over racking and yards.

Strata & Multi-Building Sites

Building-to-building bridges carrying shared CCTV, intercoms, and access control across a complex. One staged migration puts the whole estate on a single managed platform.

Schools & Clubs

Campus links to outbuildings, sports facilities, and gate cameras. We schedule cutovers around term dates and operating hours so systems stay up when they are needed.

Remote Gates & Carparks

The classic Cambium use case: a Force link out to a gate intercom or carpark camera. We migrate the link, the camera, and the intercom together — one platform end to end.

One honest note: very large WISP-scale point-to-multipoint networks are a different conversation. Our focus is commercial sites and building-to-building links — the deployments where the link and the security systems on it belong under one roof.

MSPs & IT Companies: Your Cambium Replacement Install Partner

Many MSPs and IT companies quoted Cambium for their clients for years — it was a solid, well-priced answer for point-to-point links and business Wi-Fi. Those clients are now asking questions, and you need a replacement install partner who can move quickly.

Great White Security works alongside IT teams and MSPs as a trade installation partner. We handle the physical installation, cabling, and commissioning of the UniFi replacement — including the licensed security work that IP cameras, access control panels, and intercom wiring require under WA law — while your team retains the network management relationship with your client.

Cambium Replacement FAQs

Will my Cambium equipment stop working?

No — Cambium equipment installed on your site keeps working today. Administration affects the company behind it, not the hardware on your wall. What is now uncertain is everything that depends on the company continuing to operate: firmware and security updates, warranty and RMA processing, cnMaestro cloud management continuity, and spare-parts availability. The sensible move is to plan a migration before support matters, not after something breaks.

Do I have to replace everything at once?

No. We plan staged cutovers — typically starting with the most critical link or the devices most exposed to a support gap, then migrating the rest in planned stages. Cambium and UniFi equipment can run side by side during the transition, so your site stays operational throughout.

Can you reuse our existing cabling and mounting points?

In most cases, yes. Existing ethernet runs, PoE cabling, conduit, masts, and mounting brackets are typically reusable for the UniFi replacement hardware. We confirm this during the site audit — where cabling is reusable, the changeover is significantly faster and less disruptive.

What replaces my Cambium gear in the UniFi range?

At a product-family level: cnPilot Wi-Fi access points map to UniFi U7 and E7 Wi-Fi 7 access points, cnMatrix switches map to UniFi PoE switching, and ePMP or Force point-to-point links map to UniFi building-to-building wireless bridges. The exact models depend on your site — distances, client counts, and PoE loads — which is what the site audit and equivalence map establish.

Can you also take over the cameras and access control running over the link?

Yes — this is the core of what we do. Cambium links frequently carry CCTV backhaul, gate intercoms, and access readers between buildings. As a licensed security installer, we migrate both the network link and the security systems riding on it — UniFi Protect cameras, UniFi Access door control, and UniFi Intercom door stations — onto one platform, managed from one console.

Do you work with our IT company or MSP?

Yes, regularly. Many MSPs and IT companies quoted and deployed Cambium for their clients and now need a replacement install partner. We handle the physical installation, cabling, and commissioning — including the licensed security work that IP cameras, access control, and intercom wiring require under WA law — while your team retains the client and network management relationship. See our MSP partnership page for details.
