Standard proximity cards and key fobs. Issue, suspend, and delete via the dashboard — no reprogramming of physical hardware required.

📱

Mobile App (Bluetooth/NFC)

Users unlock doors via the UniFi Access app on their phone. Works via NFC tap or Bluetooth hands-free approach. No physical card needed.

🔢

PIN Code

PIN-only access for shared areas, delivery bays, or backup access. Set per-user or per-group PINs with time-based validity.

👆

Fingerprint (G3)

Biometric fingerprint credential on the UA Reader Pro G3. Ideal for high-security areas where PIN + card combinations aren't sufficient.

Access Control + CCTV: One Dashboard

UniFi Access and UniFi Protect share the same platform. When a door opens, the camera event appears in the camera timeline. When access is denied, you can see exactly what the door camera captured. Configure cameras to automatically start recording on access events.

Door Events in Camera Timeline

Every door open, close, or access denied event appears as a tagged marker in the Protect camera timeline — searchable by event type.

Camera Triggers on Door Events

Configure any camera to start recording when a specific door is opened, or send an alert when access is denied at a restricted entry point.

Single Login, All Systems

Security staff manage cameras, door schedules, user access, and alerts from one interface — no swapping between apps or vendors.

Reader Pro as Door Camera

The UA Reader Pro G2/G3 has a built-in HD camera. No need for a separate door camera where a reader is installed — Protect integrates the feed automatically.

How We Install UniFi Access

1

Door Audit

We assess every door that needs control — door frame type, locking hardware, cable routing, and power availability. Some doors need new electric strikes or maglocks.

2

System Design

We specify the right controller for each door (Ultra, Hub, or Enterprise Hub), the appropriate reader type, and the locking mechanism. Full hardware list with pricing.

3

Installation

Licensed technicians install readers, controllers, door hardware, and cabling. We work with your electrician or can coordinate the electrical work separately.

4

Programming

Full system configuration: users, access groups, door schedules, time zones, credential assignment, and camera integrations. Everything tested before we leave.

5

User Onboarding

We walk your admin team through managing users, issuing credentials, running access reports, and handling common tasks — with documentation and ongoing support.

6

Ongoing Support

We support your UniFi Access system after installation — adding users, expanding to new doors, firmware updates, and troubleshooting available on request.

UniFi Access FAQs

What is UniFi Access?

UniFi Access is Ubiquiti's door access control system — part of the UniFi OS ecosystem. It includes door controllers (UA Hub, Enterprise Hub, Access Ultra), readers (UA Lite, Reader Pro G2/G3), and credential management (NFC, mobile, PIN, fingerprint). It integrates natively with UniFi Protect cameras and runs on the same dashboard as your network and camera systems.

How many doors can UniFi Access handle?

UniFi Access scales from a single door (Access Ultra, no hub required) to enterprise deployments. The Enterprise Access Hub (EAH-8) controls up to 8 doors per unit and supports 10,000 users. Multiple hubs can be deployed across a facility or campus, all managed from a single Site Manager dashboard. For very large deployments we'd discuss the right architecture for your situation.

What credential types does UniFi Access support?

NFC cards and fobs, mobile app credentials via Bluetooth or NFC tap, PIN codes, and fingerprint recognition on the UA Reader Pro G3. Multiple credential types can be active simultaneously — you might issue cards to all staff and also allow mobile credentials for managers, for example.

Does UniFi Access work with my existing CCTV?

UniFi Access integrates natively with UniFi Protect cameras — door events appear in the Protect timeline and cameras can be triggered by access events. For existing non-UniFi camera systems, the two operate independently (separate dashboards), though we can advise on the best way to manage both.

Is UniFi Access suitable for outdoor doors?

Yes. The UA Reader Lite and Reader Pro G2/G3 are IP55 rated and suitable for outdoor use in Australian conditions. The Access Ultra is also weatherproof. External doors in commercial and industrial settings are a common UniFi Access application.

What happens to UniFi Access if the internet goes down?

UniFi Access runs on-premise and does not require internet connectivity to function. The Enterprise Access Hub has offline operation capability, meaning doors continue to work during internet or power outages (with battery backup in the Enterprise Hub). Standard PoE-powered readers will need PoE UPS for power resilience.

Is UniFi Access NDAA compliant?

Yes. Ubiquiti Inc. (NYSE: UI) is a US-listed company and UniFi Access hardware is NDAA Section 889 compliant — suitable for government, defence contractor, and critical infrastructure sites. See our NDAA compliance guide for more detail.

How much does UniFi Access cost to install in Perth?

Pricing depends on the number of doors, reader type, locking mechanism, and cabling required. A single-door system (Access Ultra + reader + electric strike) typically starts from around $1,500–$3,000 installed. Multi-door enterprise deployments scale accordingly.
